Wanna look taller?

April 17, 2012

Have you ever wished you were taller just by 3 more inches? Do you think it would have made a difference if you were 5.7 and not 5.4...??

Well.. who said that your time's up?!

Ways to make your legs look longer can be as simple as slipping on a pair of heels. There’s long been a fascination with having lengthy legs, and it’s something that’s often seen as desirable. If you weren’t born with sky high pins, however, there are plenty of ways to fake it. Take a look at the following ways to make your legs longer looking.

1. Say "Hi" to Heels

An instant way to make your legs look longer is by simply stepping into a pair of high
heels. Wearing heels not only adds extra height, but it also elongates the appearance of your leg. Stick to slim stiletto heels rather than chunky block heels. Open toed shoes are also more elongating than closed toe shoes.

Not very comfortable wearing high heels?  Go for pony heels or kitten heels like in the image above.. Nevertheless, you can also choose 2-inch platforms. They will not look chunky and will give you the much needed height!

2. Shorten your Hemline

The length of your hemline plays can play a major role in creating the appearance of longer looking legs. Anything that cuts you off at an awkward length can instantly make you appear shorter or stumpier. When looking at ways to make your legs look longer, a short hemline is a great place to start. Swap your midi for a mini skirt and show off your pins.

This holds true even for ethnic wear. If you choose hemlines that stop at mid-calf or somewhere below the knee, not giving a proper definition, it WILL make you look shorter. Instead, try hemlines that end a bit above the knee and see how it works wonders!!

3. Go Monotone

If you want longer looking legs, stick to one tone when it comes to wearing tights and shoes. If you’re wearing black tights, wear black shoes. If you’re wearing nude tights (or going sans tights) then wear skin-coloured shoes. Wearing one tone creates a streamlined effect and tricks the eye into thinking you’ve got longer legs.

4. Nude is the new Black

This is a cut-out from a popular fashion magazine and it just speaks of what i truly mean to say.. Nude shoes can take you a long way. They seem as an extention of your feet. If you're planning on wearing ankle length bottoms them pull on nude ballerinas, mockasins, pumps, peep-toes, booties, thongs, just anything in NUDE..

Apart from giving you an elongated feel, nudes are the most versatile color in accessories (including footwear) that your wardrobe can have. They're perfect to tone down a rainbow-colorful dress or to give you a classy appeal if you're wearing pastels! Its a personal must-have!!

5. Go Floor Length

Previously I mentioned that wearing shorter hemlines can create the appearance of longer looking legs. Well, would you also believe that wearing longer hemlines are just another way to make your legs look longer?

The trick, however, is to choose something that skims the floor. This instantly creates the appearance of a lengthier silhouette. Pop on a pair of heels or wedges underneath for added height – just make sure the hem is long enough to cover up the shoe!

Seen floor-touching Anarkalis sported by celebs lately?? Well, they're certainly in trend right now and will give you added advantage of looking tall!

6. Ditch the Ankle-straps

Obviously they are something to die for, especially the Mary-Janes... But when we're talking of looking taller, it's best to avoid them. Anything that breaks the line of your leg will instantly shorten its appearance. For the same reason avoid shoes with ankle straps as well and anklets, as they too break up the line.

7. High Waist - Short Torso

Watching your waistline can make all the difference when looking at ways to make your legs look longer. Nah.. its not about dieting, but simply watching where you choose to clinch in your clothes. Wearing high-waist garments is one way to trick people into thinking that you have long legs. Sport a high-waist by tucking your shirts in and avoid anything to hang below the waistband.

Low-rise bottoms and low-waist belts are a complete NO-NO..

(Reminds me of something.. Ever noticed the jeans of Rahul Bose?? He's a naturally short guy, and by wearing low-rise jeans, it makes him look all the more shorter.. No offence to his acting skills...!!!)

These are just a few tips and tricks to make your legs look longer. They’re all simple and effective ways to give the appearance of longer looking legs.

Do you have your own favourite ways to appear taller? Don't forget to share them.... :)
